ABOUT
Emma Almond is an artist based in West Cornwall in the UK.

Originally from Blackpool in Lancashire she studied Fine Art at Blackpool & the Fylde College and Ceramics and Printmaking at The University of Leeds before going on to gain a degree in Graphic Design from Lancaster University.
She has been a CAD Technician in the construction industry for 18 years, and creates artworks alongside this line of work.

Emma has a broad range of artistic interests, her main focus at this time is on her painting and printmaking practices with drawing also playing an important role.
Emma’s painting process uses various materials; oil and cold wax being of particular interest to her. By combining marks made using charcoal, pencil or simply the texture of the wax gives the painting extra depth and interest.
In Printmaking Emma uses both intaglio and relief printmaking processes; her intaglio, collagraph and monoprints are often of an expressive and semi abstract nature, with her relief prints being more illustrative in style.
Drawing is a fundamental part of Emma’s practice, and is an important part of her working life. Observation is used as a means of understanding and to make better sense of things. She regards drawing as the single best way to learn about something, be it an object, person or place.
